Bumper Stickers

Things

Austin has always had a special thing for bumper stickers. Way beyond a statement of political or commercial affiliation. Austin stickers are our zeitgeist. Memorable stickers are:

I "heart" Austin - plain, simple, popular, says it all

- another veneration theme but I liked the siluouette guitarist

- South Austin pride

- Oat Willie standing in his barrow
(many thanks to Nick!)

- the Spoke had already been around about a'hunert years by then

And folks... the granddaddy of them all -

Waterloo Records - what other community has the creativity to use this humble raw material for so many statements of Austin and it's people?
Update! See what I mean?

Oat Willie bumper stickers...

I left Austin for New Zealand in Aug 74 (the day Nixon resigned, in fact!) and on a trip back several years later got about 100 "Onward Through the Fog!" bumper stickers. I gave them away freely, and for many years heard stories of people having seen them about the country...

Various Oat Willie's advertising stuff...

KOKE FM Sticker

I have one if you want the jpg lemme know.

I would love a copy

Of said sticker. I wore mine on the back of beat up old volkswagen with hay hauler tires back in the early 70's while going to High School in Dallas. I loved Austin and the cosmic cowboy thing. Jim Franklin was my hero.

Anyway, I would even pay for repro good enough to have another bumper sticker made from.
