Nothing Strikes Back Ice Cream Shop

I recall the stairway as being in colours that graduated in radiance. Once entering the room at the top of the stairway, it was all dark, with blacklights...way cool to me in the late 60's.

We used to form a 'circle' in a friend's room at Jester, then truck across the mall to NSB for treats. Coming from a town of 1000, and living pretty much a sheltered life, that place was farm out. Being mind-altered merely added to the experience. But what I remember most was that the ice cream was really good, and sundaes looked fairly weird under the lighting. The only thing that crawled across my foot was the girl sitting next to me who decided it was a relatively good time for a brief respite.

Nothing Strikes Back!

I remember going to NSB on the drag back in '73. It was during UT summer orientation, and the RA took all us newbies across the street for an ice cream cone.

The inside was painted totally black, with fluorescent paint splattered on the walls and ceilings. With black-lights being pretty much the only illumination. The tables were Bell telephone spools (again painted black with fluorescent splatter colors).

The Ice Cream was good, but the crawly thing that went over my foot pretty much put me off ever going back.

NSB was closed in '74 or '75.
